Businesses Fooling Around

We all love a great April Fool’s Day stunt. PR folk across the UK have been working tirelessly to create the perfect prank. Here’s our top three…

1. Driverless delivery
We loved the idea of a ‘Domi-No-Driver’, a robot that delivers Domino’s pizza. Domino’s often stays ahead of the curve with their April Fool stunts, last year raising our hopes with the world’s first edible pizza box. Domino’s announced the Domi-No-Driver with a believable Vine video and press release: https://www.dominos.co.uk/blog/dominos-rolls-out-driverless-delivery-vehicles/

2. The MNP are coming…
Mumsnet used the elections to create a political prank, announcing that it would be launching a political party in time for the elections, campaigning under the slogan ‘You’ve let the country down, you’ve let us down – but most of all you’ve let yourselves down’. Well known for controversy and member run-ins with politicians, this was a great way for Mumsnet to join in the fun with a light-hearted stunt.

3. Churchill: The Movie
Oh Yes! Following the announcement that the team behind award-winning biopic Theory of Everything would be releasing a film about Winston Churchill, Churchill insurance decided to parody the release with their own announcement. The stunt promised fans the chance to see the iconic nodding British Bulldog star in his own movie. Brilliant use of current news to promote a brand.
