The Colonel’s secret Twitter recipe
As a PR agency, we love cool little social media quirks, and the latest one from KFC’s Twitter account is without a doubt one of the best!
The fast food chain was already in our good books for bringing its amazingly dirty Double Down burger to the UK (which is the best hangover food ever by the way), but one eagle-eyed Twitter user spotted the KFC account was following just 11 accounts – all five of the Spice Girls and six verified people named Herb, replicating the Colonel’s secret recipe, which consists of five spices and six herbs, in Twitter form.
Social media and fast food aficionados around the world were quick to tweet about the discovery, with the original post by @edgette22 being retweeted and liked more than 690,000 in less than a day. As well as a ridiculously high social media reach, the story also received amazing coverage in some of the country’s most read publications, including the Metro, The Sun, Yahoo and LadBible.
.@KFC follows 11 people.
Those 11 people? 5 Spice Girls and 6 guys named Herb.
11 Herbs & Spices. I need time to process this.

We’re not sure if KFC ever intended this to go viral or if it was just a genuinely funny incident, but whoever came up with the idea needs a raise…or an unlimited supply of chicken (we know what we’d rather have!)
